Approving the redevelopment contract of the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia for the redevelopment and urban renewal of a portion of the Washington Square West Urban Renewal Area, Unit No. 2, designated as Parcel No. 111 also sometimes identified by house number and street address as 838-840 Lombard street; and authorizing the Redevelopment Authority to execute the redevelopment contract with Howard R. Lander and to take such action as may be necessary to effectuate the redevelopment contract.

The adopted resolution authorizes City Council’s Committee on Commerce and Economic Development to hold hearings about Tenet Healthcare Corporation’s proposed closure of the Medical College of Pennsylvania and its potential effects on patients, employees, the East Falls community, and Philadelphia.
Authorizing the Committee on Commerce and Economic Development to hold hearings to investigate the proposed closure of the Medical College of Pennsylvania (MCP) by Tenet Healthcare Corporation (Tenet) and the devastating impact that such a closure would have on the patients and employees of MCP, the East Falls community, and the City of Philadelphia; and further authorizing the Committee in furtherance of such investigation to issue subpoenas as may be necessary to compel the attendance of witnesses and the production of documents to the full extent authorized under Section 2-401 of the Home Rule Charter.
