This enacted bill authorizes the Philadelphia Authority for Industrial Development to apply for up to $5.15 million in state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grants for improvements at the Germantown YWCA and Morris Arboretum.
Authorizing the Philadelphia Authority for Industrial Development ("PAID") to file an application with the Office of the Budget, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, under the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, in an aggregate amount not to exceed Five Million One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($5,150,000) to assist in the development of Germantown YWCA and Morris Arboretum; and authorizing the City to enter into an agreement with PAID in furtherance of grant requirements; all under certain terms and conditions.

City Council adopted a resolution proposing to repeal Philadelphia’s “resign to run” rule.
Proposing an amendment to the Philadelphia Home Rule Charter to repeal the "resign to run" provision, so that, effective January 1, 2008, City officers and employees may become candidates for nomination or election to public office without first resigning from their City office or employment, and providing for the submission of the amendment of the electors of Philadelphia.

The adopted resolution authorized City Council’s Public Safety and Public Health and Human Services Committees to hold hearings on the findings and recommendations of the “Blueprint for a Safer Philadelphia.” It also authorized the committees to seek advice and recommendations on ways to reduce and eliminate crime affecting Philadelphia’s youth, including gun violence.
