The enacted ordinance amended Philadelphia’s Health Code, Contracts and Procurement Code, and Officers and Employees Code to replace references to “mental retardation” with “intellectual disability.” The changes apply to descriptions of health-center services and lead-paint impacts, the name of a city behavioral health office, and the name and compensation rules of a city board.

This enacted ordinance amended Philadelphia’s Fair Practices Ordinance to require employers to provide reasonable workplace accommodations for employees’ needs related to pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition, when the employee requests an accommodation and it would not cause undue hardship.
Amending Chapter 9-1100 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Fair Practices Ordinance: Protections Against Unlawful Discrimination," by requiring reasonable workplace accommodations for employees who have needs related to pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition and making technical changes, all under certain terms and conditions.
