Honoring Rosaline Morgan, the 1999 Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

WHEREAS, Rosaline "Roady" Morgan has taught health and physical education for 28 of the past 29 years at Wanamaker Demonstration Middle School in the School District of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Morgan attended Philadelphia Public Schools and, later, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of Findlay and her Master of Arts in Counseling from Liberty University; and

WHEREAS, In addition to teaching, Ms. Morgan has coached volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, track and field, intra-murals and dance club She has incorporated cooperative learning, project-based education and performance-based assessment into a creative style which includes health, art, puppetry, dance, music, visual and performing arts. Further, Ms. Morgan is a member of the Comprehensive School Reform Development Program at Wanamaker Demonstration Middle School, where multidisciplinary teaching and learning are being implemented; and

WHEREAS, Equally as important, Roady Morgan is a gifted woman who eagerly and enthusiastically shares her exceptional talents with students, colleagues and the community, wherein she is a terrific role model for our youth. She was a recipient of a $5,000 grant from the Centers for Disease Control (Project A.R.R.E.S.T) and was recently awarded the School District of Philadelphia's highest award, the William A. Stetcher award for distinguished service in the field of physical and health education; and

WHEREAS, Roady Morgan contributes extensively to a variety of community service endeavors such as MELO Town Watch, Philadelphia Futures Sponsor a Scholar, Women's Sport Foundation Committee, Special Olympics, YMCA dance instructor and coordinator for programs with neighborhood youth and town watch. She is a legal advocate for special needs students, and a volunteer counselor for students at risk; therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor Rosaline Morgan, the 1999 Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution shall be presented to Rosaline Morgan evidencing the sincere congratulations and high commendation of this legislative body.
