Full Bill

WHEREAS, LaSalle University is one of 17 colleges and universities throughout the nation selected by the Kemper Foundation to take part in the Kemper Scholars Program; and

WHEREAS, The Kemper Scholars Grant Program is sponsored by the James S. Kemper Foundation, an organization intent on providing educational and financial assistance through a variety of academic and cultural programs; and

WHEREAS, The School of Business of LaSalle University is hosting the annual program which has been formally titled “The spirit of Business - Excellence in Business;” and

WHEREAS, The Kemper Scholars Grant Program promotes academic excellence, independent thought, self-reliance, and devotion to community through an emphasis on excellence in business education and performance; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Thomas Hellie, the former Director of the Foundation, and his successor, Dr. Thomas Connor, will be joined by 4 students and a moderator from each of the 17 colleges and universities from around the country which will be represented; and

WHEREAS, The meeting of the Kemper Scholar Program in Philadelphia and its theme, “the Spirit of Philadelphia-Excellence in Business,” reflect a confidence in our city and the future of business activities in Philadelphia; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we commend the achievements of the Kemper Scholar Program and recognize April 7 to April 9, 2000 as “Kemper Scholar Days” in Philadelphia.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Thomas Hellie and Dr. Thomas Connor further evidencing the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
