Full Bill

WHEREAS, The Wellness Community of Philadelphia (TWCP) has been serving those with cancer and their loved ones since July of 1993; and

WHEREAS, TWCP has provided over 40,000 hours of programs to over 7,000 cancer patients and their families; and

WHEREAS, TWCP provides support groups, seminars in current trends in cancer treatment, nutrition and exercise classes, stress management techniques, social events and much more to those struggling with cancer; and

WHEREAS, Services, which provide a comprehensive program of hope and learning for cancer patients and their families, are offered free of charge through the Wellness Community of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, When the Wellness Community of Philadelphia relocated to Ridgeland Mansion in Fairmount Park, they preserved one of the City's most beautiful historic properties at no cost to City taxpayers; and

WHEREAS, The annual “Celebration of Hope” weekend which will offer conferences on lung cancer and cancer survivorship, a fundraising dinner party and a “Race for Recovery/Wellness Walk” is fast approaching and provides this City Council an ideal opportunity to honor this well deserving organization; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor the Wellness Community of Philadelphia for the excellent work and service that they provide to individuals struggling with cancer.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Wellness Community of Philadelphia as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
