Full Bill

WHEREAS, The Frankford High School Pioneers Varsity Baseball Team won the Philadelphia Public League Championship over Girard Academy Music Program 5-3 on June 5, 2000 at DeVincent Field at LaSalle University; and

WHEREAS, The championship was Frankford's first Public League Baseball Title since 1981; and

WHEREAS, The Girard Academy Music Program jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning; and

WHEREAS, Frankford rallied back at the bottom of the third inning with three runs; and

WHEREAS, Frankford sealed their victory on an RBI single by Russ Pizzo and an RBI double by Jim Connolly; and

WHEREAS, Frankford was well served by the pitching of Ed Durfor who gave up his preferred position of centerfield to assist the team by pitching; and

WHEREAS, Durfor pitched seven solid innings for Frankford; and

WHEREAS, While Coach Bob Peffle has coached numerous teams at various schools to championships in soccer and wrestling; and

WHEREAS, His first baseball title is fittingly at his alma mater Frankford; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we honor the superb season and sportsmanship of the Frankford High School baseball team and each of their players and recognize their success; and be it further

FURTHER RESOLVED, That we honor Coach Bob Peffle for winning his first Public League Baseball Championship.
