Full Bill

WHEREAS, Jim Corea a well known gym owner and radio host passed away on Saturday March 3, 2001, and

WHEREAS, For over thirty years Corea was a well known nutritionist; and

WHEREAS, Corea also served as the weight trainer for the Philadelphia Eagles; and

WHEREAS, In 1962, Corea opened Jim Corea's Gym and Health Club, and

WHEREAS, Mr. Corea's facility was popular with many Philadelphia legends including Bob Clarke, Rick MacLeish, Dave “The Hammer” Schultz, Del Unser and Bob Boone; and

WHEREAS, Due to the high profile of the Gym and Corea's magnetic personality, he became a regular guest discussing health and fitness on WCAU AM; and

WHEREAS, Corea was best known in the Delaware Valley for his twenty years as a radio host on WWDB AM in Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Corea was set to begin a new show on WPEN AM prior to his death; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we recognize the contribution of Jim Corea to the Philadelphia region; and

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Barbara L. Caputi Corea as evidence of the gratitude of this Council for Jim Corea's contributions and as evidence of our sorrow at his passing.
