Full Bill

WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations (PCHR), is the agency of city government which enforces civil rights laws and deals with all matters of intergroup conflict within the city; and

WHEREAS, Each year, the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations coordinates the City's observance of Human Relations Month to celebrate diversity; and

WHEREAS, A highlight of Human Relations Month will be the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations 50th Anniversary Human Rights Awards Luncheon, which will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2001, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center; and

WHEREAS, This year's Human Rights Awards Luncheon will honor individuals and organizations whose extraordinary good deeds and initiatives have made outstanding contributions to the promotion of intergroup harmony and cooperation; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the month of October 2001 be declared Human Relations Month in the City of Philadelphia.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations, as an expression of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
