Full Bill

WHEREAS, KYW-TV news anchor, Siani Lee, has brought professionalism and elegance to the field of journalism, and her pleasant personality and incredible work ethic brought a light into the lives of her co-workers and into the homes of viewers and citizens of the Philadelphia area; and

WHEREAS, Working for WCAU-TV 10 and then as a co-anchor of the 6 p.m. news with Larry Kane at KYW-TV, Siani Lee displayed exceptional journalism talents. During her impressive career, she won several awards including the prestigious Dateline Awards, from the Society of Professional Journalists, for her report on race relations between the Korean and African-American communities, an issue to which she devoted much of her professional, as well as personal, time. She also won a Philadelphia area Emmy Award in 1997 for her live, special coverage of the 1996 Olympic Torch Run; and

WHEREAS, Siani Lee's impact in the community extended beyond her journalism talents. She served on the board of MANNA, which provides meals to AIDS patients in their homes, and was president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Asian-American Journalist Association. She has also taken part in many benefits and charitable events that raise money for AIDS and Breast Cancer research; and

WHEREAS, Siani Lee was an inspiration and a role model to many people whose lives she so deeply touched and impacted. We the people of the Philadelphia area are fortunate for the time we had with her, and we will remember her professionalism, elegance, and energetic personality with sincere respect and admiration; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby mourns the passing of popular KYW-TV news anchor, Siani Lee.
