THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 20-500 of The Philadelphia Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
CHAPTER 20-500. COUNCILMANIC DISTRICTS
§20-501. Boundaries of Districts.
Pursuant to Section 2-201 of The Philadelphia Home Rule Charter which mandates that City Council redistrict the City within six months after the publication by the United States Census Bureau of the population of the City at each decennial census, the City of Philadelphia is hereby redistricted and the following Councilmanic Districts are established:
District No. 1

SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall not affect the existing Councilpersons or the powers, duties or functions of that office, nor shall it affect the present Council or its officers. The new district boundaries shall apply only to nominations and elections of Councilpersons whose terms of office commence on the first Monday of January 2004 and thereafter.
