Full Bill

WHEREAS, Since September 11, 2001, New York City Firefighters and their families have mourned the loss of hundreds of members from their ranks; and

WHEREAS

,

The City of Philadelphia will honor New York City Firefighters and their families during the weekend of December 7, 2001; and

WHEREAS, As a result of the attack on America at the World Trade Center Towers and the Pentagon, U.S. military forces are currently engaged in a war to combat terrorism and it is noteworthy that Philadelphia will be hosting New York City Firefighters and their families on the 60th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor which resulted in America's entry into World War II to battle against a different form of terrorism; and

WHEREAS The altruistic and heroic actions of New York City Firefighters, Police Officers and countless others during the catastrophe which occurred at the World Trade Center Towers has resulted in a new found patriotism and appreciation for Firefighters and Law Enforcement personnel in our nation; and

WHEREAS

It is our duty to always remember the courageous and selfless actions of those individuals who so aptly demonstrated to the world the true character of the American people; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we welcome and honor the contingent of New York City Firefighters and family members to the City of Philadelphia during the weekend of December 7-9, 2001.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the New York City Firefighters and their families as evidence of the sincere sentiments and recognition of this legislative body.
