Full Bill

WHEREAS, The North Catholic High School Falcons recently defeated the St. Joseph's Prep to win their first Catholic League Championship since 1999; and

WHEREAS, The Falcons were Northern Division Champions in the regular season amassing a 13-0-3 record; and

WHEREAS, The Falcons defeated a St. Joseph's team with a 14-0-2 record; and

WHEREAS, Going into the final, St. Joe's had overwhelmed talented LaSalle and O'Hara teams; and

WHEREAS, North Catholic's goalie made a crucial save when Prep striker Brian DiGulio drove towards the left post; and

WHEREAS, North scored its only goal when midfielder John Kirchenbauer slipped the ball toward forward Ed Szambelak who forwarded a cross pass to Tim Greer who scored the game winning goal at the 46 minute mark; and

WHEREAS, North Goalie Scott Ehly contributed to the defensive shutout with an impressive five saves; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we honor the North Catholic Falcon Soccer Team on its 2001 Catholic League Championship; and

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the North Catholic Falcons Soccer Team as evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body.
