Full Bill

WHEREAS, Folasade A. Olanipekun was appointed in April 2000 by Mayor John F. Street as the first African American female treasurer for the City of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Prior to serving as City Treasurer, she served as the Director of Finance for the Philadelphia Parking Authority and as the Assistant Director of Finance to the City. She also served the City as a Public Finance Specialist from 1994 to 1997; and

WHEREAS, In her capacity as City Treasurer everyone grew to admire and respect Sade's intelligence, and her diligent and detailed oriented nature; and

WHEREAS, She holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, a juris doctor from Temple University School of Law and a masters degree in government from the Fels School of Government of the University of Pennsylvania; and.

WHEREAS, Sade's success can be traced directly to the hard work and dedication of her mother, who immigrated to this country; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure as City Treasurer, Sade has overseen a number of highly successful financial projects, as well as successfully maintain the day to day financial operations of the City; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor, commend, and express our sincere appreciation to Folasade A. Olanipekun, City Treasurer of the City of Philadelphia, for her hard work, dedication, and distinguished service to the City of Philadelphia and its' residents.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Folasade A. Olanipekun, further evidencing the grateful appreciation and deep admiration of this legislative body. We wish her tremendous success in all of her future endeavors.
