Full Bill

WHEREAS, Joseph J. Leonardo is a lifelong Philadelphian, having been raised in West Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Leonardo began his employment with the Philadelphia City Planning Commission in 1966, beginning as a Cartographic Draftsman; and

WHEREAS, After pursuing his college degree while working full-time for the Planning Commission, Mr. Leonardo was elevated to the position of City Planner; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Leonardo was awarded Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Temple University; and

WHEREAS, During his career Mr. Leonardo served as a Community Planner for North Philadelphia, Southwest Philadelphia, West Philadelphia and Northeast Philadelphia, sharing his expertise with community and business leaders across the City and working for the betterment of Philadelphia's neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Leonardo was subsequently elevated to the position of Director, Community Planning Division, where he supervised the delivery of planning services to communities throughout the City; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Leonardo has enjoyed an outstanding career with the Philadelphia City Planning Commission, performing his duties with responsibility, diligence and professionalism and becoming a symbol of service to his profession and a standard for others to follow; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor Mr. Joseph J. Leonardo for his dedicated service to the City Planning profession.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Joseph J. Leonardo as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
