Full Bill

WHEREAS, North Catholic recently won the Catholic League Soccer Championship by defeating Saint Joseph's Prep 3-2; and

WHEREAS, The championship was the second consecutive title for North and their third in four years; and

WHEREAS, North had to play five games to win three and make the finals; and

WHEREAS, The quarterfinal with Archbishop Wood ended tied and dragged out 110 minutes of regulation and sudden death before ending in a tie; and

WHEREAS, North stunned Saint Joseph's by scoring on a 35 yard kick in the 63rd minute and by scoring again on a header in tile 69th minute to take the lead; and

WHEREAS, The victory represented the first loss for Saint Joseph's Prep in their highly successful season; and

WHEREAS, The Prep allowed just four goals in regular season play; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we honor the North Catholic Soccer Team on

its second consecutive Catholic League title and its third in

four seasons; and

FURTHER RESOLVED, That we recognize the

efforts of all the players on the North Catholic and St. Joseph's soccer teams; and

RESOLVED FURTHER, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to representatives of the North Catholic Soccer Team as evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body.
