Full Bill

WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through the Department of Community and Economic Development ("DCED") is applying for Temporary Assistance to Needy Families ("TANF") program funds to underwrite housing rehabilitation activities; and

WHEREAS, The City through its Office of Housing and Community Development ("OHCD") desires to submit an application to DCED for TANF Housing Rehabilitation Program funds; and

WHEREAS, DCED program guidelines require authorization of City Council by Resolution in order for the City to apply for and accept these funds; now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That:

Section 1. The Mayor, on behalf of the City of Philadelphia, is hereby authorized to apply for and accept up to $500,000 in funding from the Commonwealth, Department of Community and Economic Development, under the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families Housing Rehabilitation Program.

Section 2. A housing rehabilitation need exists in Philadelphia and the submission of this application will help to address the community needs.

Section 3. The City, through its Office of Housing and Community Development, will assume the responsibility for securing the required matching amount of project funds as described in this application and will reimburse the Commonwealth for any expenditures found to be ineligible.

Section 4. A certified copy of this resolution be furnished to the Department of Community Affairs testifying to its adoption.
