WHEREAS, The Hispanic Bar Association (HBA), helps to promote the number and advancement of Latino attorneys throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, As part of its education goal to increase the enrollment of Latino students in law schools, the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania Legal Education Fund (HBALEF) awards educational scholarships to Hispanic law students; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of the last fifteen years, the HBALEF awarded more than seventy-seven scholarships to worthy recipients, many of whom are first generation college graduates; and
WHEREAS, This year’s honorees are The Honorable Eduardo C. Robreño, The Honorable Angel L. Ortiz, The Honorable Nitza I. Quiñones Alejandro, The Honorable Nelson A. Diaz, Mari Carmen Aponte, Esquire, Guillermo L. Bosch, Esquire, Gilbert F. Casellas, Esquire, Luis P. Diaz, Esquire, Holly J. Ford, Esquire, Felix Gonzalez, Esquire,

BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we recognize the achievements of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania Legal Education Fund as it celebrates its Sixteenth Annual Scholarship Banquet on November 21, 2003 and honors the seventeen original founding members of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania on the twentieth anniversary of its founding.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Freddy Godoy, President of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania Legal Education Fund, and the seventeen banquet honorees, as an expression of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
