Full Bill

WHEREAS, Peter Nero and the Philly Pops have entertained and inspired with imaginative, stylish, and fun music programs since 1979 with an eclectic mix of popular classics and new favorites with that unique Philly Pops flair that appeals to everyone; and

WHEREAS, Peter Nero, a Brooklyn-born musician of the first order who has become more Philadelphian than any Philadelphian, is the Founding Music Director and has served as the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Philly Pops with an excellence that truly warrants the epitaph “Maestro,” providing creative leadership that is unmatched in the World, recognized with innumerable honors, successful recordings, and personal accolades; and

WHEREAS, The Philly Pops is a one-of-a-kind orchestra, the largest independent Pops orchestra in the country, that performs a wide array of musical genres from Broadway Tunes to Jazz to Blues to Swing and much, much more, with a magical blend of talented musicians from the musically-rich Philadelphia Region, regularly bringing audiences to their feet with exhilarating performances, an orchestra that can perform anything—and do so with unique excellence; and

WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia hopes for—nay, demands—another 25

years of entertainment and inspiration from Peter Nero and the Philly Pops; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby Recognize, Honor, and Celebrate, and Thank, Peter Nero and the Philly Pops for their invaluable contributions to entertaining and inspiring the City of Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the United States of America—and the World—on the occasion of their 25th Anniversary.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Peter Nero and the Philly Pops, further evidencing the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body.
