WHEREAS

Bill Baldini joined WCAU in 1964 and he currently reports for NBC 10 Monday through Friday; and

WHEREAS

,

Over the years, Mr. Baldini has been honored with many awards for his reporting including “Man of the Year” from the Main Line Chamber of Commerce, the World Newsfilm Award and the Radio and TV News Directors Association Award for public affairs reporting; and

WHEREAS

,

Mr. Baldini has also been named Newscaster of the Year in 1998 from the 21 Jewel Square Club and had also won first place in the Radio/TV News Director Association Award for his stories, “Car Capers” and “The Russians are Coming…”; and

WHEREAS

,

In 1976, the Northeast Jewish War Veterans named Mr. Baldini “Humanitarian of the Year” and awarded him with a Sigma Delta Chi prize for his series “The Russians are Coming…”; and

WHEREAS

,

Mr. Baldini was born and raised in Philadelphia, graduated from St. Joseph's University with a degree in Political Science, and served four years of active duty with the United States Air Force; and

With his wife Joan, Mr. Baldini has raised two children and still resides in the Philadelphia area; and

WHEREAS

,

Bill Baldini's dogged dedication to the City of Philadelphia, his passionate pursuit of the facts and his incomparable integrity is truly appreciated by this body and all residents of Philadelphia; now therefore

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Honors Bill Baldini for over 40 years of accurate news reporting and dedication to the City of Philadelphia.
