WHEREAS, The Famous 4th
Street Deli -- under the leadership of four generations of family, including David Auspitz, and his father Sam Auspitz -- served as a prominent business, and contributed to the growth of Philadelphia for eighty-two years; and
WHEREAS, The Famous 4th Street Deli offered exemplary service, and only the best products, including the best pastrami, corned beef, and Famous Cookies, this side of the Mason-Dixon Line, to its customers; and
WHEREAS, The Famous 4th Street Deli served as a second office, or a second home, to many politicians, businesspersons, and residents of Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, The Famous 4th
Street Deli has become an Icon of our City; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it recognizes, honors, celebrates, and thanks David Auspitz and his family, owners of famous 4th
Street Deli the accommodation of choice for:
Election Day Socializing And Strategies,
Business Deals And Union Activities,
Journalists And Journalees,
And The Generality Of Local Celebrities
After Four Generations And 82
Years Of Commitment To The City Of Philadelphia.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to David Auspitz, further evidencing the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body.
