Full Bill

WHEREAS, American health care began at Pennsylvania Hospital - the nation's first hospital - and has developed and moved forward here since Ben Franklin co-founded it 254 years ago. Recently Pennsylvania Hospital was recognized nationally as one of the “Top Ten Hospitals in the US” by the most widely read magazine in the nation,

; and

WHEREAS, The hospital has over 24,500 inpatient admissions and 201,000 outpatient visits each year, including nearly 5000 births each year. Pennsylvania Hospital delivers more babies each year than any other hospital in Philadelphia. More than a quarter of a million babies have been born here; and

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania Hospital is committed to building on that tradition with innovation. Plans include state-of-the-art operating rooms with robotic technology and minimally invasive surgery, expansion of the Emergency Department, new Radiology facilities, as well as substantial enhancements to the Maternal and Infant services; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor and recognize the countless contributions and accomplishments that Pennsylvania Hospital has achieved in dedication and service to our City; and

FURTHER RESOLVED, Tthat an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Pennsylvania Hospital as evidence of the high esteem and sincere gratitude of this legislative body.
