Amending Title 12 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Traffic Code", by amending Chapter 12-1201, entitled "Authority to Install Traffic-Control Devices", by authorizing pedestrian countdown timers to be used as traffic control devices at designated intersections.

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

SECTION 1. Chapter 12-1201 of The Philadelphia Code, relating to the “Authority to Install Traffic-Control Devices”, is hereby amended to read as follows:

CHAPTER 12-1201. AUTHORITY TO INSTALL TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES

Section 12-1201. Authority to Install Traffic-Control Devices

(1) The Department shall place and maintain all necessary traffic-control signs, signals, devices, and markings,

including, pedestrian countdown timers. For purposes of this section, pedestrian countdown timers are devices with a display that shows the countdown of the remaining crossing time.
