Calling for the creation of one single land bank under the Redevelopment Authority (RDA).

WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority is responsible for the disposition of all publicly owned land for housing and community development projects; and

WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority disposes of urban renewal land in City/State urban renewal projects; and

WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority disposes of land and buildings previously acquired by the RDA; and

WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority disposes of land and properties acquired by the City through Sheriff's Sale; and

WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority disposes of land acquired for future development projects; and

WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority should staff the Vacant Property Review Committee; and

WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority is an invaluable mechanism for developing neighborhood development projects as evidenced through the Neighborhood Transformation Initiative; and

WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority is essential for the continued revitalization of neighborhood projects in our City; and

WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority is instrumental in improving housing and commercial stock throughout Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, The future viability of our City would be uncertain without the continuation of the work of the Redevelopment Authority; now therefore be it,

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Calling for the creation of one single land bank under the Redevelopment Authority (RDA).
