Honoring The Links, Incorporated on the occasion of its 60th Anniversary Celebration and its 35th National Assembly.

WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is an organization comprised of women of African heritage who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the identities, culture and economic survival of all people of African origin through cultural, educational and civic programs; and

WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated, through partnerships, promotes activism to help bring about positive change that transcends time, race and socio-economic differences; and

WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is a 501(c)(4) not for profit organization of more than 10,000 dedicated women of African descent, linked by 273 chapters in cities in 42 states across America and around the globe; and

WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated was founded in Philadelphia in 1946; and

WHEREAS, The Keystone Cluster is comprised of nine chapters of The Links, Incorporated with seven located in the State of Pennsylvania and two in Delaware; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council hereby honors The Links, Incorporated on the occasion of its 60th Anniversary Celebration and its 35th National Assembly.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Keystone Cluster of The Links, Incorporated as host of this monumental event taking place in the City of Philadelphia from June 25 - July 2, 2006.
