Full Bill

WHEREAS, The International Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows, Incorporated (hereafter referred to as IAMWMW, Inc.), was founded by Mrs. Elizabeth Coles Bouey in 1940 in Richmond, Virginia when she issued a call to ministers' wives and widows to unite in one Christian fellowship for greater and more effective kingdom building; and

WHEREAS, Under Mrs. Bouey's leadership, ministers' wives from more than 30 states, Washington D.C., West Africa and eight denominations became affiliated with the Association; and

WHEREAS, The IAMWMW, Inc. now has a constituency of 43,000 and consists of 103 denominations located in 45 states, Washington D.C., eighteen nations on five of the seven continents; and

WHEREAS, The Association is committed to promoting educational, moral and spiritual excellence and offers fifteen self-improvement courses for Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows during its annual conferences; and

WHEREAS, The International Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows, Incorporated will hold its convention in the Philadelphia region from June 24-30, 2006; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council hereby honors the Pennsylvania Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows on the occasion of its hosting the convention of its international association.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Pennsylvania Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows as the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
