Swift for more than 20 years of civic and community service to the City of Philadelphia through her outstanding work as an advocate for Philadelphia musicians, serving needs of the City’s artistic community with enthusiasm and unwavering dedication.
WHEREAS, Dr. Jacqueline J. Swift, is the founder and first president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Black Music Association. In July 1984, Mayor Wilson Goode and the City of Philadelphia recognized Dr. Swift, and the music pioneers she advocated for, as “Black Music Ambassadors,” for their contributions to the world renowned Philadelphia Sound; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Swift’s contributions to Black music and the American entertainment industry as an artist, producer, and promoter have afforded her the opportunity to work with such industry giants as Nina Simone, George Clinton, The Jackson Five, McFadden and Whitehead, Billy Paul, the Delphonics, The Ohio Players, and many others. She is also currently in her fifth year as producer of the “Sounds of Philadelphia Revival” concert series which benefits local children’s charities; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Swift holds a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Development and is founder and executive director of the Wounded Healer, Incorporated, an outreach program devoted to advocacy for minority youth in the Juvenile Justice System; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby recognize and congratulate
Dr. Jacqueline J. Swift for more than 20 years of civic and community service to the city of Philadelphia through her outstanding work as an advocate for Philadelphia musicians, serving needs of the City’s artistic community with enthusiasm and unwavering dedication.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to

, as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body. Congratulations.
