WHEREAS, Charlesretta Meade is a native Philadelphian who graduated Cum Laude from the Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1970; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Meade holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from the Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota; and

WHEREAS, She is a graduate of the Temple Law School and holds Bar Admission to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States; and

WHEREAS, Her accomplishments include a Citation from the Philadelphia City Council for Community Contributions; the Pennsylvania State Representative’s Community Service Award; and the Judicare Appreciation and Service Award; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Meade has served as a member on the Philadelphia Board of View; Chair of the Philadelphia Tax Review Board; and Vice-Chair of the Philadelphia Board of Revision of Taxes; and

WHEREAS, Her professional experience includes practicing law; housing development while serving as President of the CBM Homeownership Development Corporation; and real estate transactions while serving as Settlement Clerk and Underwriter for the Bell Savings Bank; and

WHEREAS, Charlesretta Meade’s commitment to the Philadelphia community is demonstrated by her service as the Director of the Tenth Memorial Nonprofit Development Corporation; membership on the Avenue of the Arts North Planning Task Force; membership on the Select Committee on Business Taxes of Philadelphia; Director of the Philadelphia Parking Authority; and service as member and pro-bono attorney for the 47th Ward and Philadelphia County Democratic Executive Committee; now therefore

RESOLVED, That the Philadelphia City Council Congratulates Charlesretta Meade Esquire on her Appointment as Chair of the Philadelphia Board of Revision of Taxes.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented as an expression of City Council’s support and encouragement for Ms. Meade in her new position as Chair of the City’s Board of Revision of Taxes.
