THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

SECTION 1. Title 12 of The Philadelphia Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

TITLE 12. TRAFFIC CODE.

§ 12-102. Definitions.

In this Title the following definitions apply:

Pedestrian Crossing Time. The average time required for a pedestrian to traverse a street at a particular intersection.

§12-1201. Authority To Install Traffic-Control Devices.

Pedestrian Crossing Signals.

(a) At intersections that have pedestrian crossing signals and high volumes of pedestrians, as designated by the Department, pedestrian crossing times shall be adjusted to account for the slower walking rates of elderly and disabled pedestrians.

SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall become effective 6 months after enactment.
