Whereas, Amina Salum Ali currently serves as the Permanent Representative of the African Union of the United States of America; and

Whereas, Amina Salum Ali is a member of the Zanzibar House of Representatives; and

Whereas, Amina Salum Ali has previously served as the Minister of State of Zanzibar; and

Whereas, Amina Salum Ali acted as the Minister of Finance from 1990 to 2000 for the Ministry of Zanzibar Revolutionary Government; and

Whereas, Amina Salum Ali served as the Minister of State for the Union Government of Tanzania where she advocated for international and regional cooperation; and

Whereas, Amina Salum Ali was born in Zanzibar which is located off the mainland of Tanzania; and

Whereas, Amina Salum Ali obtained her B.A. in Economics from the University of Delhi in New Delhi, India; and

Whereas, Amina Salum Ali attended the Institute of Management Development and Research in India and earned a Diploma in Financial Management; and

Whereas, Amina Salum Ali earned a Master in Business Administration from the University of Pune in India; and

Whereas, Amina Salum Ali continued her education in Finland where she earned a diploma on Trade Promotion and Export Marketing Research; now therefore

RESOLVED, That the City of Philadelphia hereby recognizes and honors Ambassador Amina Salum Ali for her dedication to serving people of the African Diaspora and upholding a positive example of leadership for her country; and

Further Resolved, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Ambassador Ali as an expression of City Council's appreciation of the Ambassador's important work.
