Full Bill

WHEREAS, Education is the foundation upon which a productive life is built; and

WHEREAS, Nurturing a vibrant public school system depends on the contribution of every citizen; and

WHEREAS, Providing meaningful opportunities for residents of the Greater Philadelphia region to play a role in the education of our children opens the door to widespread citizen involvement; and

WHEREAS, Philadelphia Cares Day mobilizes thousands of area volunteers in service of our public school children and their education; and

WHEREAS, A number of civic-minded sponsors, including Greater Philadelphia Cares' corporate partners ACE Group, ARAMARK, GE, and SAP, have made it possible to offer this important event to the community; and

WHEREAS, On Saturday, October 20th, hundreds of volunteer teams, from local universities, faith-based groups, small and large businesses, and non-profit organizations will perform much needed work at Philadelphia public schools in communities throughout the City; now, therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor Greater Philadelphia Cares for the 14th Annual Philadelphia Cares Day, devoted to engaging all Philadelphians in the education of our children.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Greater Philadelphia Cares, as evidence of sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
