Recognizing, Honoring and Celebrating the Center City Residents' Association on the occasion of their 60 Year Anniversary of excellence in civic leadership, vision and activism.

WHEREAS, the Center City Residents' Association was founded in 1947 to maintain and improve the quality of life in the area between South Street and JFK Boulevard, Broad Street to the Schuylkill River; and

WHEREAS, the Center City Residents' Association is one of the oldest and most organized civic associations in Philadelphia with a membership composed of some of Philadelphia's most civic-minded residents; and

WHEREAS, although the Center City Residents' Association has too many past and present successes to list, some include producing a Master Plan for Center City, successfully lobbying for the creation of a neighborhood public school, organizing events like an elegant House Tour and Halloween Treat-Trail, partnering with nearly 100 area restaurants, merchants and cultural organizations, managing a community garden, arranging weekly sidewalk sweeping and maintaining a Safe Streets program through its Police Liaison Committee; now therefore

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby Recognizes, Honors and Celebrates the Center City Residents' Association on the occasion of their 60 Year Anniversary of excellence in civic leadership, vision, and activism and extends their best wishes for 60 more years.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Center City Residents' Association evidencing the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body.
