Full Bill

WHEREAS, Caregivers Recognition Day, May 8, 2008, is a day to show how much we the public understand the overwhelming task of taking care of a loved one; and

WHEREAS, It is every family member and/or friend's responsibility to step up and offer support to a loved one by offering oneself as a caregiver to a loved one living with Alzheimer's; and

WHEREAS, Taking care of yourself will help you be a better caregiver, which in turn will dramatically impact another individual; and

WHEREAS, Managing the level of stress by accepting changes as they occur can increase the well being of an individual; and

WHEREAS, Realizing that your loved one may require care beyond what you can provide on your own; and

WHEREAS, You will plan for the future now by showing a sense of dedication and duty to a loved one, or anyone who needs the type of care that goes beyond medicine and doctors; and

WHEREAS, You will give yourself credit, not guilt knowing that the care you provide does make a difference; now therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, And with the support of the Alzheimer's Association Delaware Valley Chapter, that we hereby recognize May 8, 2008 as Raymond W. Holman, Sr. Caregivers Recognition Day in Philadelphia.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to The Alzheimer's Association Delaware Valley Chapter as evidence of the sincere statements of this legislative body.
