Recognizing, Honoring, And Celebrating Brintha Vasagar, Miss Philadelphia 2008-For Her Talents And Well-Rounded Persona That Earned Her The Title Miss Philadelphia 2008 - And Wishing Her Well In The Miss Pennsylvania 2008 Pageant.

WHEREAS

, Ms. Vasagar competed against 15 of the Philadelphia area's brightest, prettiest, and most talented young women, and excelled in the competition; and

WHEREAS

, Ms. Vasagar's South Asian folk dancing talent, interviewing skills, and physical beauty, exemplifies what it means to hold the title Miss Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS

, Ms. Vasagar earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in biology and psychology at Georgetown University, where she graduated in the top 25% of her class and was inducted into numerous honor societies, which demonstrates her intellectual acumen; and

WHEREAS

, Ms. Vasagar recently helped raise over $500,000 for tsunami relief, which exhibits her strong social commitment; and

WHEREAS,

Ms. Vasagar was invited to the Presidential Inauguration and to speak before members of the United States Congress and the United Nations regarding her tsunami relief efforts; and

WHEREAS

, Ms. Vasagar currently is a third year medical student at Ross University School of Medicine in Miami; and

WHEREAS

, Ms. Vasagar will superbly represent the City of Philadelphia in the Miss Pennsylvania 2008 pageant; now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, THAT IT,
