WHEREAS, Frank Cappuccino has refereed more than 20,000 boxing matches, including more than 10,000 professional bouts and 94 world championship fights; and
WHEREAS, During his 50-year career, Frank has refereed many prominent boxers, including Mike Tyson, Bernard Hopkins, Jerry Cooney, Michael Spinks, Marvin Hagler, Jeff Chandler, Simon Brown and many others; and
WHEREAS, Before becoming a referee, Frank fought more than 130 amateur bouts and went undefeated in six matches as a professional; and
WHEREAS, Frank was born in Kensington and has become a fixture at the Legendary Blue Horizon in North Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, Frank has been inducted into the Pennsylvania Boxing Hall of Fame and the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame, a testament to his skill and class as one of boxing's top referees, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council does hereby honor the career of Frank Cappuccino on the occasion of his retirement.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Frank Cappuccino as evidence of the sincere sentiments and recognition of this legislative body.
