House Bill 2525 aims to make sweeping improvements in commercial kennels throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS,
House Bill 2525 will make it illegal for anyone but a veterinarian to euthanize a dog in a commercial kennel housing 60 or more dogs a year; and
WHEREAS,
House Bill 2525 was authored by State Representative James Casorio and has been passionately supported by Governor Edward G. Rendell; and
WHEREAS,
House Bill 2525 will set new standards in commercial kennels for lighting, exercise, ventilation, air temperature, and euthanasia; and
WHEREAS,
House Bill 2525 will increase cage sizes, ban wire cage flooring, and eliminate cage stacking in commercial kennels throughout the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS,
House Bill 2525 will mandate commercial kennels to provide outside exercise and require annual veterinary exams at the kennels; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA
, That it hereby Thanks The Members Of The Pennsylvania General Assembly Who Supported House Bill 2525 Which Will Dramatically Improve Conditions For Dogs Kept In Pennsylvania Commercial Kennels & Urges The Pennsylvania State Senate To Promptly Pass This Bill In Its Current Form.
