Amending Chapter 14-1800 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Zoning Board Of Adjustment," to prohibit accessory uses in connection with a principal use authorized by variance, under certain terms and conditions.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 14-1800 of The Philadelphia Code is hereby amended as follows:
CHAPTER 14-1800. ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT.
§ 14-1801. Jurisdiction and Powers.
(1) The Zoning Board of Adjustment may, after public notice and public hearing:

(c) authorize, upon appeal, in specific cases, such variance from the terms of this Title as will not be contrary to the public interest, where, owing to special conditions, a literal enforcement of the provisions of this Title would result in unnecessary hardship, and so that the spirit of this Title shall be observed and substantial justice done, subject to such terms and conditions as the Board may decide
. The grant of a variance shall not, of itself, authorize uses accessory to the use permitted by the variance, other than necessary public utility facilities accessory to the principal use. Accessory uses which meet the standards for allowance of a variance may be authorized in connection with a variance for a principal use, provided such accessory use has been specifically authorized in the grant of the variance
