Full Bill

WHEREAS, Jon Drummond was born and raised in Philadelphia and graduated from Overbrook High School, Odessa College and Texas Christian University; and

WHEREAS, Jon Drummond is considered one of the top-performing sprinters in the United States and the fastest starter in the history of the sport; and

WHEREAS, Included among Jon Drummond's outstanding achievements in track and field is the gold medal in the 2000 Olympics, silver medal in the 1996 Olympics and gold medals in both the 1993 and 1996 World Championships; and

WHEREAS, Jon Drummond has contributed to the community through his work as a member of the Board of Directors of USA Track and Field, a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, and through starting the With Purpose Foundation, which supports high achieving but disadvantaged students with full four-year college scholarships; and

WHEREAS, Jon Drummond has continued his exceptional accomplishments by serving as Pastor for Noville Memorial Church of God in Christ and is frequently invited to other churches in the United States to preach; and

WHEREAS, Jon Drummond has additionally been honored with the USA Track and Field Presidents award and with the induction into the Texas Christian University Hall of Fame and the Overbrook High School Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Jon Drummond has devoted his time to caring and supporting his wife and children and has continued to excel in serving his family and the community; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA,That it hereby recognizes and celebrates Jon Drummond upon his induction into the Overbrook High School Hall of Fame.

FURTHER RESOLVED,

That an Engrossed copy of this resolution to be presented to Jon Drummond as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
