Honoring and Congratulating The Northeast Times Newsweekly on its 75th Anniversary.

WHEREAS,

The Northeast Times

is a weekly publication based in Northeast Philadelphia that has provided vital news and information for the communities and residents in the Northeast Philadelphia region; and

WHEREAS,

The Northeast Times

is an affiliate of the Philadelphia Inquirer Family of Newspapers which publishes news articles of local interest, follows the City's and the Northeast Philadelphia's local sports teams, and helps monitor and advertise for businesses in the community; and

WHEREAS,

The Northeast Times

also provides the residents and communities of Northeast Philadelphia with a reliable source for community based information that includes local job opportunities, and a wide variety of community and cultural events held in Northeast Philadelphia each year; and

WHEREAS,

The Northeast Times

is a cornerstone of the Northeast community and provides the detailed and relevant local reporting that too often gets overlooked by the media; and

WHEREAS,

The Northeast Times

will celebrate its 75th Anniversary on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in conjunction with the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Philadelphia recognizes and honors

The Northeast Times

on the momentous occasion of its 75th Anniversary. We offer our sincerest thanks for your continued service to The City of Philadelphia and its residents. We wish you luck and look forward to another 75 years of successful publishing.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to

as evidence of the sincere sentiments and recognition of this legislative body. Congratulations!
