Congratulating Brian Westbrook on his outstanding career with the Philadelphia Eagles.

WHEREAS, Brian Westbrook played football and graduated from Villanova University, in 2002 he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round and became one the most versatile running backs in the NFL; and

WHEREAS, He will go down in history as one of the best Eagles players of all time with 9,785 rushing yards from scrimmage, 426 receptions, and 68 touchdowns; and

WHEREAS, # 36 thrilled Eagles fans with explosive moves and bursts of speed that left many defenders in the dust; and

WHEREAS, He always played through his injuries not only with the Eagles but also in high school and at Villanova, and his hard work and determination has always gone unmatched; and

WHEREAS, Brian Westbrook was a champion on and off the field and his work in the community will not be forgotten; and

WHEREAS, Some of his most memorable moments will always be remembered such as when he led the Eagles over the New York Giants when he fielded an 84 yard touchdown run that turned a 10-7 deficient into an Eagles victory; and

WHEREAS, Brian Westbrook will be sadly missed by this City and will always be remembered for his contributions to the Eagles and to the City of Philadelphia; THEREFORE,

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, We hereby congratulate Brian Westbrook on an outstanding career with the Eagles and wish him good luck in his future endeavors.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented Brian Westbrook, further evidencing the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
