WHEREAS,

The Philadelphia Flag Day Association

is the Nation's oldest Flag Day association, established in 1934; and

WHEREAS,

The Philadelphia Flag Day Association

remains the premier patriotic organization in the Delaware Valley devoted to promoting respect for the Flag, the country's traditional values, laws and institutions; and

WHEREAS,

The Philadelphia Flag Day Association

engages and educates the Community with its public events including Pre-Flag Day and Flag Day ceremonies at the Betsy Ross House, 9-11 Remembrance Program, and a Veteran's Day ceremony; and

WHEREAS,

The Philadelphia Flag Day Association

has compiled an extensive historic flag and banner collection used for educational and patriotic display; and

WHEREAS,

The Philadelphia Flag Day Association's

members act as ambassadors to local schools, museums, and educational institutions as they travel to engage in dialogue with students regarding history and promote the respect of new ideas and the sacrifices of America's founders and protectors; and

WHEREAS,

The City of Philadelphia looks forward to another 75 years of civic excellence from

; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA,

That it recognizes, honors, celebrates, and thanks

The Philadelphia Flag Day Association

for its invaluable contributions to the City of Philadelphia on the occasion of its 75th Anniversary.

FURTHER RESOLVED,

That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to

, further evidencing the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body.
