Full text

WHEREAS, Luca Sena emigrated to the United States with his father when he was 19 years old and within two short years they were able to earn enough money to bring the rest of their family over from Italy; and

WHEREAS, the family opened their first restaurant, La Famiglia in 1976 winning accolades for the fine Italian dining that they provided; and

WHEREAS, Luca Sena felt that the city was missing a little European flair, he opened The Penn's View Hotel and Panorama Restaurant in 1990 to offer great food in a casual environment. As Luca likes to say, “The kind of place that you would find if you got lost in a little town in Italy”; and

WHEREAS, Almost immediately after opening Panorama Luca Sena contacted the Winekeeper Company of Santa Barbara to build a wine tap system for his new restaurant that would enable him to serve wine by the glass while still maintaining the opened bottle in perfect condition; and

WHEREAS, Luca Sena had a new wine keeper custom built by a local refrigeration company to his exacting specifications, that can hold 120 bottles of wine under ideal conditions even when opened; and

WHEREAS, Panorama's wine keeper has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest wine keeper in the world; and

WHEREAS, Luca Sena after 20 years still personally oversees all aspects of both the hotel and the restaurant and is especially involved in every aspect of the kitchen, although he refuses to chop any onions; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Honors and recognizes The Penn's View Hotel and Panorama Restaurant on their 20th Anniversary.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Luca Sena as recognition of the appreciation of this legislative body.
