Full text

WHEREAS, Mayor Michael A. Nutter appointed and Council confirmed the Rev. Damon Jones as a member of the Philadelphia Board of Ethics, to serve in the remaining portion of a five-year term to end November 16, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Jones has resigned his position on the Board of Ethics, effective upon the appointment and confirmation of his successor, creating a vacancy; and

WHEREAS, Section 3-806(c) of the Home Rule Charter provides that vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired portion of the term of the member succeeded; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Michael A. Nutter has nominated Judge Phyllis W. Beck for appointment as a member of the Philadelphia Board of Ethics, to serve in the unexpired portion of the vacant term; and

WHEREAS, Section 3-806 of the Charter requires the advice and consent of a majority of all members of the Council for the appointment of members of the Board of Ethics; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council hereby consents to and confirms the appointment of Judge Phyllis W. Beck as a member of the Board of Ethics, to serve in the term ending November 16, 2012.
