WHEREAS, Special People in the Northeast (SPIN) was founded as a non-profit organization that supports children and adults with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, David and Trina Losinno have served as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, respectively, since SPIN's inception. It has been their life's work to promote an inclusive world for people with intellectual disabilities; and
WHEREAS, The organization has grown to employ nearly 1,100 people and supports the growth and development of over 3,700 children and adults annually; and
WHEREAS, SPIN was recently ranked as the Number 2 Top Place to Work in Philadelphia and has received recognition both locally and globally for their work in developing innovative programs for people with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, The Losinnos have built SPIN into the premier organization that it is today. It has a budget of over 55 million dollars annually; and
WHEREAS, Although SPIN's main administrative headquarters is located in Northeast Philadelphia, there are well over 100 properties that house agency clients; and
WHEREAS, SPIN was inducted into the Northeast Philadelphia Hall of Fame in 2010; and
WHEREAS, The Losinnos intend to spend their retirement devoting more time to their two favorite hobbies, restoring old houses and gardening. They will also be spending countless days with their 5 children and 3 grandchildren; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor David and Trina Losinno for over 40 years of service to the organization which they founded, Special People in the Northeast (SPIN).
RESOLVED FURTHER, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the David and Trina Losinno, as further evidence of the grateful appreciation and deep admiration of this legislative body. We wish them well in their retirement.
