Full Bill

WHEREAS, Anthony C. Langford was born on August 9, 1952. He attended Cape May Regional High School and Glassboro State College in New Jersey, where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science/Liberal Arts. He completed post graduate courses towards a Masters of Public Administration at Temple University; and

WHEREAS, In 1970, Anthony began his employment with the Philadelphia Gas Works. He held various union and management positions including Meter Reader Collector, Telephone Service Representative, Meter Reading Supervisor, Customer Service Center Office Manager, and in 2000, he became Customer Review Officer; and

WHEREAS, Anthony was actively involved with his community serving on numerous boards and commissions such as President of the Friends of East Fairmount Park, a Democratic Committeeperson with the 32nd Ward - 10th Division for over twenty years, Board Member of the Strawberry Mansion Community Development Corporation, and as Vice President and Treasurer of the Fairmount Park Advisory Council; and

WHEREAS, As a community leader, Anthony was also involved with the negotiations for the development of a golf driving range at 33rd and Oxford Streets. He was also involved with the Philadelphia Horticultural Society and was appointed a Commissioner of the Parks and Recreation Commission; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the loop located at 33rd and Oxford, currently listed as part of Reservoir Drive, shall henceforth be known as “Tony Langford Way.”
