Full Bill

WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Philadelphia is pleased and proud to join with the School District of Philadelphia, family and friends in honoring and congratulating Jimmy Lewis on the great occasion of his retirement following 33.11 years of dedicated service to the School District and the citizens of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Jimmy Lewis is a life long resident of the City of Philadelphia. He attended Olney Elementary School and graduated from Frankford High School in 1977; and

WHEREAS, Jimmy Lewis began his career with the Philadelphia School District in 1981 as a Maintenance Mechanic. During his tenure, he received numerous promotions including Maintenance Foreman, Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Compliance Officer, Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President of Facilities and Operations, and Senior Vice President of Special Projects; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lewis has been an active member of the Emerald Education Committee for thirty-two years and is a Past President and current Board Member. He is also a member of the Mason Lodge 506; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lewis can now enjoy spending more time with his beautiful wife of 32 years, Eileen, and his two children, Jim and Christine. Also, he will now have more time for his hobbies like golf, fishing, and wine, to name a few; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lewis leaves the School District with the force and power that has made him a leader in his community, as he continues to be a resident of the Somerton section of Philadelphia and a concerned community advocate; now therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor and congratulate Mr. Jimmy Lewis on the occasion of his retirement from the School District of Philadelphia, after thirty-three years of service and his lifelong contributions to education, prosperity and quality of life in Philadelphia.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Jimmy Lewis, as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
