Congratulating The Constitution High School Boys Basketball Team, The Generals, on winning the PIAA State Single A Championship, The District 12 Single A Championship and The Philadelphia Public League Championship.

Full Bill

WHEREAS, The Generals, led by Head Coach Robert Moore, Philadelphia Daily News City Coach of the Year and Pennsylvania State Coach of the Year, finished with a record of 23-9; and

WHEREAS, The Constitution High School Varsity Basketball Program started only a mere 3 years ago. They have advanced to the state playoffs every year of their existence winning 20 or more games each and every year; and

WHEREAS, The Generals were invited to play in The City of Palms Tournament, the #1 tournament in the country, and only the 3rd time that a Philadelphia Public League team has been invited to participate in this event; and

WHEREAS, The Generals defeated the Mathematics, Civics and Science Charter to win the District 12 Championship and then defeated the Boys Latin Charter to win the Philadelphia Public League and finally faced the Lincoln Park Charter School to win the PIAA State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Generals were led by Seniors Savon Goodman, named 1st Team All City, 1st Team All State and PIAA State Player of the Year who has scored over 1800 career points and Daiquan Walker, named 1st Team All City, 1st Team All State who has scored over 1200 career points. They were assisted by their fellow Seniors Fajon Jones, MVP District 12 Title Game, Tamir Bolger, Craig Slade, Amonie Holloman and Shaire Tolson-Ford during this very successful year; and

WHEREAS, Based on their past performance we can only assume that the Constitution High School Boys Generals will only get better with time; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate The Constitution High School Boys Basketball Team on winning the PIAA State Single A Championship, The District 12 Single A Championship and The Philadelphia Public League Championship.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to The Constitution High School Boys Basketball Team, further evidencing the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
