Full Bill

WHEREAS, Every year, by Proclamation, the President of the United States recognizes November as National Family Caregivers Month; and

WHEREAS, Family members, friends, and neighbors, throughout the country take loving, dedicated, and excellent care of our injured, our disabled, and our elderly; and

WHEREAS, Such service to others demonstrates the breadth of love and commitment to tend to the needs of the most vulnerable of our Society; and

WHEREAS, We all should recognize the importance of sustaining the quality of life of so many millions of our citizens through difficult times, and provide support and assistance to such Family Caregivers; and

WHEREAS, Family Caregivers are often perceived as tireless; we need to appreciate that each care-giving situation poses its own stresses, problems, and challenges, requiring a compassionate generous, and empathetic response; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Philadelphia, Hereby recognizes November 2012 as National Family Caregivers Month in the City of Philadelphia.

RESOLVED FURTHER, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented symbolically to Nancy's House, a respite program for family caregivers, as evidence of the respect and admiration of this legislative body for those family members, friends, and neighbors who demonstrate love, dedication, and excellence in the needed care of others.
