Full Bill

WHEREAS, Mayor Michael A. Nutter appointed and Council confirmed William H. Brown III as a member of the Philadelphia Board of Ethics, to serve in the remaining portion of a five-year term to end November 16, 2014.

WHEREAS, Mr. Brown has resigned his position on the Board of Ethics, creating a vacancy; and

WHEREAS, Section 3-806(c) (“Vacancies”) of the Home Rule Charter provides that vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired portion of the term of the member succeeded; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Michael A. Nutter has nominated Rev. C. Kevin Gillespie, S.J., Ph.D., for appointment as a member of the Philadelphia Board of Ethics, to serve in the unexpired portion of the vacant term; and

WHEREAS, Section 3-806 of the Charter requires the advice and consent of a majority of all members of the Council for the appointment of members of the Board of Ethics; now therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council hereby consents to and confirms the appointment of Rev. C. Kevin Gillespie, S.J., Ph.D., as a member of the Board of Ethics, to serve in the term ending November 16, 2014.
