Recognizing the week of October 20, 2013 through October 26, 2013 as AT&T 9-1-1 for Kids Education Week presented by U.S. Best Repairs.

WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all those living in and visiting our City; and

WHEREAS,

9-1-1 for Kids is the official voice of 9-1-1 public education and caller training, recommended and endorsed by: APCO International (Assn. of Public Safety Communications Officials); NENA (National Emergency Number Assn.); NG9-1-1 Institute; and NASNA (National Assn. of Nine-one-one Administrators); and

WHEREAS, The 9-1-1 Local Heroes Medal of Honor,

is bestowed on a young person who distinguishes himself/herself by gallantry and intrepidity calling 9-1-1 to help save a life or property, or to report a crime. Equally as important, this award is presented to the 9-1-1 dispatcher/call taker who processed the call, and dispatched the appropriate emergency response help; and

WHEREAS,

The AT&T 9-1-1 for Kids Education Week Presented by U.S. Best Repairs provides public awareness events, including conferences and media outreach, training activities for parents, teachers, school administrators, other care givers and businesses; educational events in schools and other appropriate venues; and production and distribution of educational content on 9-1-1 designed to educate people of all ages on the importance and proper use of 9-1-1; and

WHEREAS,

Philadelphians deserve the finest education we can offer regarding 9-1-1 education; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby recognizes the week of October 20, 2013 through October 26, 2013 as AT&T 9-1-1 for Kids Education Week presented by U.S. Best Repairs.

FURTHER RESOLVED,

That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the 9-1-1 for Kids, further evidencing the support of this legislative body.
